We finally broke down and got a pet. We had the kids check out different books and learn all about pets and pick one. Garnet originally wanted a shark or a piranha but soon realized that they wouldn't be very appropriate. Finally the kids all settled on a dog.

We had them research all different kinds of breeds, but they really liked the Beagle. We visited a local breeder and instantly fell in love with the puppies. The breeder said he have a female pup for us in July. So the kids started thinking of names and decided to call the puppy Dora. Garnet had read that they like to explore, and so does Anya's favorite TV character, Dora the Explorer. A couple of weeks went by and the breeder called to say that he had a male puppy ready for us if we wanted him. Well we decided to go for it and picked him up. The kids decided to name him Diego after Dora the Explorer's cousin.

We've been experiencing all the ups and downs of puppy hood. So far we've had more ups than downs. He really is a good dog and the kids just love him.

Joanna This is the day we picked up Diego from the breeder.	The kids sat on the floor and called him to them. He really liked Joanna.	Just shy of 10 weeks old.	Diego loves to wrestle with Garnet. He especially likes to chew on Garnet's ears.	Best Pals Diego and his friend Toby. They love to play together.
